Hi All,

Finally its Term 2 of the year.FTP NPCC has organised a Cadet leader Training Camp for the Sec 3s in order for them to take over their posts after the Sec 4s and 5s who are going to pass out in mid April. I hope that the Sec 3s who went for the camp have learnt a lot of things which they did not learnt during the normal trainings. The CIs had observe the 2 trainings since the camp, and we felt that all of you have improve. we hope that you all can maintain this way through your CL life and not only do it when we remind you all. Lastly, the officers and CIs wish you all the best in your CL life. Anynway, we will inform the Sec 3s to 5s about the promotion ceremony again and announce the cadets who had made through the course. for those who did not pass, please show us your best during the trainings, we will observe you from there in order for you all to promote.

Next event held last fri was Area 3 games day. It was a successful one with the help of all the cadets and instructors' help. Thank You, everyone! Although not all schools came, but the event was still able to be carried on. Hope that all cadets had enjoyed the event insteadd of just wanting to win a medal for their own unit. In this event, we can see all your team spirit and and the bonding in you all.

Graduating Cadets return of Uniform parts

Attention to all the Graduating Classes Students:

You are required to return parts of the uniform. Please return the following:

MALES: 1 Badge Cap Crest, 3 Large Buttons, 4 Small Buttons

FEMALES: 1 Badge Cap Crest, 6 Small Buttons

Please return them to CL Meiqi or any other Cadet Leaders, such as Crystal, Nurayan, Chng Jie, Suraiin, et cetra.

However, if you want to retain the badge cap and buttons, you may do so by paying the respective costs.

For every badge cap crest is $0.45. Buttons regardless of large or small, are charged as $0.10 per button.

Thus the full cost for Males is $1.15. The full cost for Females is $1.05.

Please return the above uniform parts asap by this week.

Boots/Shoes Polishing

Follow the simple steps below to polish your boots.

Prepare a solid shoe polisher(kiwi) and a smooth cloth.
Wet the smooth cloth but drain the excess water.
Wrap the cloth onto your finger(s).
Scrap a small amount of shoe polish(kiwi).
Apply the kiwi onto the surface of the boots/shoes.
Polish the boots in a continuous circular motion.
Add small amount of water. DO NOT add too much shoe polish.
Air Dry.

DO NOT add too much shoe polish. The shoe polish will eventually melt under sunlight. Too much of shoe polish will cause the shoe surface to crack.

For this coming Wednesday training, on 16 Sept 2009, there are some amendments to the promotion test items.

Due to the O levels Science Practical Exams, you will only be tested on the following items on the training day.

Hi Cadets:

Please be informed that there will be no CCA trainings for this week due to 'O' Level Listening Comprehension.

However, please take note that the Sec2 Adventure Training Camp and Sec3 Survival Training Camp will be as usual scheduled on Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August.

Please take note that there is a scheduled event on Friday, 24 July. The Inter-Unit Quiz Competition @ HTA. Please approach Mr Nigel Chong for the details for the event. The date/day, time, venue, transport, attire and the number of cadets attending.

NCOs please help in facilitating the matters for the Inter-Unit Quiz Competition such as get the cadets to know about the event, rules and regulations, attire, students participating, consent forms, venue for reporting, and et cetera for the day. Make sure every single cadet participating is clear about the matters before heading for the competition.

Moreover, you can also tell the cadets to read up prior to the competition, such as, history of NPCC and Singapore. Current Affairs like current PM, new NMPs, et cetera. Your should know as your have attended the training.

To the cadets involved in the PHS Air Rifle Competition:

As a precaution for the H1N1 Influenza, please take your temperature before you come to the meeting venue. Cadets with temperature exceeding 38 degree celsius should take another temperature again after 5 minutes of rest. If the high temperature persist, you should inform the CIs namely Lixing, Jinwang and Jia Juang or your fellow squadmates participating in the event.

Cadets with high temperature recorded need not have to come for the event and should seek doctor if necessary.

Hello all

Please prepare your NPCC full uniform for tomorrow's NPCC Day, if applicable.

For new uniform holders as well as other uniform holders, you are to make sure that the following stuff have been done on your uniform.

insert the metal crest through the beret and through the cardboard behind the beret.
boots and shoes to be polished using the black kiwi polisher and clean smooth cloth.
for males, shirt to be ironed. with distinct line from the shoulder lapel to the the end of the sleeve of the shirt on both sides. No other lines on the shirt. 3 big buttons in front, 2 small buttons at the shirt pockets and 2 small buttons at the shoulder of the shirt with rank attached. badges to be placed at their respectively positions, if any.
for males, trousers to be ironed. with distinct line starting from the inner first trousers loop (nearest to the zip) to the end of the trousers on the front of the trousers on both sides. ALSO distinct line at the back of the trousers from the middle of the back of the trousers to the end of the trousers on both sides forming a big triangle w/o the base.
for females, blouse to be ironed. distinct line from the shoulder lapel to the end of the end of the sleeve of the blouse on both sides. No other lines on the blouse. 5 small buttons at the front of the blouse and 2 small buttons at the shoulder with rank attached. badges to be placed at their respectively positions of the uniform, if any.
for females, skirt to be ironed without any distinct lines.
for shoe laces, the males boots are to tie the chain knot. while the females shoes use the butterfly knot to tighten the shoes.
all cadets are to wear their belt regardless whether the uniform is tight or loose.
socks for males must be up to the height of above the boots. while socks for the females must be up to the height of at least one palm's height form the ankle of the feet.
be-spectacled are to wear specs hooks or specs band.
No wearing of any watches, necklaces, bangles, bracelets, rings and earrings except for religious purposes.
all long hairs are to be pinned or tied.
Females wearing the beret are to wear a hair net. Females with long hairs are to tie their hairs into a bundle with the hair net covering it.
Males wearing the beret are to insert all the fringe hair into the beret. no hair should be sticking out of the beret. and hair should not be touching the eyebrows, the ear and the collar of the shirt.

If you have done all the above, you are properly dressed. While you are wearing the uniform, you are representing the NPCC organisation. therefore, no exaggerating actions and should maintain high level of conduct and behaviour.

The NPCC 50th Annual Parade has come to an end. Also the Uniform Fitting Exercise is over too.

Cadets who have missed the uniform fitting exercise, we may or may not schedule you to go to the NPCC HQ to get your uniform.

Dear Cadets,

From this coming training onwards, you will have your lunch plus your change of attire at this time slot: 2.05pm to 2.55pm. This gives you a total time of 50 minutes, which means you shouldn't be late anymore.

NCOs please take note when you are planning for the training schedule. We will start the training promptly at 3pm. That means cadets are suppose to fall in at 2.55pm. The extra 5 mins is given for attendance taking.

If latecomers occur again without valid and accepted reasons from the CIs, then actions will be taken against the whole cohort. "One for all, all for one".

2009, a year with new hopes

Dearest FTPSS NPCC unit,
I am postsing this on behalf of all the 2008 NCO's and senior NCO's. Its 2009 now and many things are changing for us, like Maam Lixing and Mr Seow not going to be with us anymore. Indeed they have helped alot around our trainings and arranging events for our cadets to participate and learn new things. This year is also most of our NCO's last year in First Toa Payoh Secondary School. 2008 has been a hectic year for all of us, and even though through those misunderstandings and endless conflicts, we managed to overcome it. However we hope that in 2009, we can start anew and be a more understanding unit.
We know that some of us had lost interest in NPCC, but this is more than just a normal CCA, we learn Teamwork, Discipline, Responsibilty and most of all, we engraved the value of "One for all and all for one" into each and every one of our hearts.
Frankly speaking, there is nothing wrong with the Cadets, because it is the Cadet Leader's duty to teach and pass down the Leadership attitude to the younger ones. We are not ashamed to admit our mistakes as NCO's because we did not show enough Leadership or Responsibility towards our Cadets, hence being a bad role model to them. As the saying goes, when the going gets tough, then the tough gets going. That's why, we know that we can change for the better in 2009.
We will have new Secondary 1's joining us soon, so we would want to show a good image to them. For those who had stayed commited to NPCC from the start, we thank them, for those who did their best to make NPCC seen and/or heard, we look up to them and for those who make NPCC in FTPSS a place in their hearts, we respect them. Regardless their age, size or colour or anything that makes us different, because when we are in our NPCC Uniforms, we are all the same.
Bottom line, as NCO's, we would want to make a difference in the unit so that we can be remembered as good Leaders, not lousy ones when we leave the school. For all the mistake each of us made, for all the hatred and lack of communication that had happened in 2008, we put it behind us and start anew. So we hope that in 2009, we can work together and make NPCC, not just another "School thing" that you must attend, but a place where you can trust and find our true self as One unit. One school. One family.

Today was Area 3's Secondary 1's swearing in & games day. There were 6 schools and each school has to invent a game lasting not more than 15 minutes! Our school clinched alot of trophy's and tokens today as they won 4/6 games & they have surely brought pride to our school & school unit. On the same note, all of this would not be a success without CI Maam Li Xing, NCO's, TO & most important of all, the Sec 1's! We hope you enjoyed today & hopefully, the next time there is another games day, we will strive for the better.

ATTENTION: Whenever there is training, all cadets & NCO's must standardise the attire. For example, if they is training, all should wear pe attire since the sec 1's does not have a unit tee yet. And whenever there is training that requires Full-Uniform, everyone MUST be in Full-U, no excuses.
